January 2021. Griscom awarded the Cinquegrana Presidential Chair of Faculty Teaching Excellence and Research award to conduct research with students in Spring/Summer 2022. Griscom and student team will investigate the long-term sustainability of silvopastoral restoration projects in Virginia and Panama. Summer stipends and travel expenses will be awarded to one undergraduate and graduate student.

April 2019. Zoe Bergman ('19) won 1st place for best poster in Ecological Research at ASB. Jacob Peters was awarded the Dr. Norlyn L. Bodkin Scholarship for Arboretum and Botanical Field Studies and outstanding 1st year graduate award.
January 2019: Jacob Peters won "People's Choice" 3 minute thesis competition. Emily Thyroff's manuscript (work from her honor's thesis) on American Ginseng was accepted into Natural Areas Journal.
October 2018: Zoe Bergman won third place for best poster at LTER All Scientists Meeting
June 2018: Chris Coggin was awarded $9,000 for his thesis research from the ROOSA fund.
